I bought a refurbed d3 about 6 months ago and it had about 9 shutter actuations on it… and AFAIK they are the only ones, and that is the only time it gets reset. You can also remove your lens, set a slow shutter speed, and look into the camera’s body cavity while taking a picture or two. If you do not see a flicker, then your shutter is stuck. You should see a tiny flicker at the center of your lens as the shutter goes up and down during the exposure. Then check the relevant tab for the shutter count. If existing in the right tag, shutter count can be read out on a mac with Preview. How do you find the shutter count on a Canon 5D Mark IV?
